Montreal Biosphere

The Montreal Biosphere , located on Saint Helen's Island inwards Montreal , Canada , is a museum dedicated to the environment. It was designed in addition to created past times visionary architect Richard Buckminster Fuller originally equally the pavilion of the USA for the 1967 World Fair.

The pavilion was originally designed to survive dismantled. However , to cutting terms , the metallic tubes were welded in addition to non bolted equally proposed past times Fuller. This made the construction impossible to dismantle. So later the fair ended , the United States of America authorities donated its pavilion to the City of Montréal. For several years , the Biosphere was used for recreational activities in addition to equally a populace attraction. In 1976 , during repair works , the structure's acrylic sail caught burn downwards in addition to was completely destroyed. The sail was never replaced.
